Ebony Riding Club, Brixton
The Memorial Trust’s most recent grant in February 2022 helped equip and furnish a new “club room” to provide local schoolchildren with a dedicated space for evening/weekend projects.
Ebony works with primary and secondary schools in Brixton, south London. It supports pupils with physical, mental and behavioural problems by helping them acquire new skills in a very different environment from their classrooms/homes. As well as learning to ride, they are encouraged to care for the horses and volunteer in the yard.
During lockdown, Ebony developed its links with local schools by sourcing and distributing food and laptops. Part of its office space became a dedicated "club room" for evening/weekend projects to support pupils who were finding it difficult to catch up post-Covid.
